Duvet Inner Definitions - The Inner Meanings
- Feather And Down
A feather and down duvet inner features insulating clusters that trap warm air and work with your body temperature for a luxurious warmth that is lightweight. The most common combination is a 50/50 mix of feathers and down but the higher percentage of down the warmer the inner. We recommend regular airing in the sun for all feather duvet inners to remove any moisture that may have been absorbed. When you make the bed give the duvet inner a good shake to fluff up the fibres and restore the natural feather and down loft.
- Pure New Zealand Wool
The wonderful natural insulating qualities of pure wool are no secret to us in New Zealand. Wool duvet inners work with your own body temperature keeping you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. These regulating properties make a wool inner the perfect choice for couples with varying temperature preferences. Wool is also durable and naturally fire and water resistant. We recommend airing your wool duvet inner before use and only dry clean.
- Alpaca
Alpaca fibre is 25% warmer than wool and substantially lighter which makes it the ultimate in luxurious warmth in a duvet inner. Alpaca fibres are silky soft with low oil content and this results in an odourless and completely non allergenic duvet inner. The moisture wicking ability of Alpaca, like wool, draws moisture away from the body, through the duvet inner and out into the air.
- Microfibre
Microfibre is an easy care, affordable option, offering a duvet inner that is warm, soft and lofty. When used in down like clusters microfiber fill is often referred to as down alternative due to the way it drapes around you and its non-allergenic properties. Great for allergy or asthma sufferers, microfibre duvet inners are machine washable and available in a range of weights for all seasons.

It really does smell like a barnyard unfortunately. Ve had it for two weeks it was air for a day on the washing line before use. And each dry day since, still smells. Its quite heavy but ultra warm and cosy. So I am living in hope that the smell will eventually disperse .

If you don’t like the smell of wool ’sheep’ then I’d recommend you find yourself another duvet inner, I have aired it out for 3 days on the clothes line and it still smells. However, I’m sure it is going to be super warm in winter!

This has quickly become my new favourite duvet. Although it is summer, on a chilly night this natural wool fibre duvet manages to keep the body at just the right temperature, not too hot and not too cool. The duvet is thick and light with just enough weight to feel settling. I liked it so much that I bought a second one for our guest room.

We have had an old version of this duvet for years and loved it. Bought the new one in a Super King size as we upgraded the bed, without reading these reviews. It smelt so bad. I have bought a number of wool duvets over the years and they have never smelt like this - it did really smell like a sheep farm. After reading the reviews, we returned it straight away. Disappointed in Woolrest considering our old one was great, and certainly never smelt like that!

This is really cozy and warm, great value in the sale, but was surprised by the smell of sheep. I have a different brand of lighter wool duvet that has never smelt at all so was surprised I could really smell the sheep in this one. It is getting less though, and an airing outside should help, hopefully.

I bought the inner duvet today. Before hand I knew that it may small like farm. But gor my surprise it is really mild. I aired it for an hour only and I was ready to put int on my bed. As I write this review amd enjoying my new cosy duvet. I also bought and new duvet cover. Loving my bed O don’t need those annoying blankets anymore jus cotton sheets and my new duvet. I was so cold before with all that polyester that I decided to invest and something better and I think I made the right decision.

This is by far the worst wool duvet I have ever purchased. The smell is horrendous, I’ve tried airing this duvet inner out for almost 3weeks. It smells like sheep on the back of one of thoes trucks. Visitors have thought someone has peed the bed.

I’m still airing this duvet and trying to get rid of the terrible smell. I think it’s been nearly two weeks now snd don’t understand why this duvet is do different from previous wool duvets as I have not had this problem before. Wool duvet inner. Really happy with this. Bought a super king for a king duvet cover so it doesn’t slip around. The farm smell is pretty mild and I’m pregnant but it isn’t bothering me. I managed to air it outside for a couple hours on a cloudy day beforehand. Good for regulating temperatures.

It’s not for me, but that’s personal preference. It’s warm and comfortable - I’m just used to the fluffy light feeling of traditional down and the wool is much more flat and heavy. Happy to put it in my spare bed but not on my bed
