Duvet Inner Guide

Duvet Inner Definitions - The Inner Meanings

  • Feather And Down
A feather and down duvet inner features insulating clusters that trap warm air and work with your body temperature for a luxurious warmth that is lightweight. The most common combination is a 50/50 mix of feathers and down but the higher percentage of down the warmer the inner. We recommend regular airing in the sun for all feather duvet inners to remove any moisture that may have been absorbed. When you make the bed give the duvet inner a good shake to fluff up the fibres and restore the natural feather and down loft.

  • Pure New Zealand Wool
The wonderful natural insulating qualities of pure wool are no secret to us in New Zealand. Wool duvet inners work with your own body temperature keeping you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. These regulating properties make a wool inner the perfect choice for couples with varying temperature preferences. Wool is also durable and naturally fire and water resistant. We recommend airing your wool duvet inner before use and only dry clean.

  • Alpaca
Alpaca fibre is 25% warmer than wool and substantially lighter which makes it the ultimate in luxurious warmth in a duvet inner. Alpaca fibres are silky soft with low oil content and this results in an odourless and completely non allergenic duvet inner. The moisture wicking ability of Alpaca, like wool, draws moisture away from the body, through the duvet inner and out into the air.

  • Microfibre
Microfibre is an easy care, affordable option, offering a duvet inner that is warm, soft and lofty. When used in down like clusters microfiber fill is often referred to as down alternative due to the way it drapes around you and its non-allergenic properties. Great for allergy or asthma sufferers, microfibre duvet inners are machine washable and available in a range of weights for all seasons.

Had bought a wool inner as have had purchased a similar one before but this one is terrible. Awful smell like sheep poo and after airing for days and trying spray baking soda etc is still the same. Big waste of $

I bought a 400gsm woolrest duvet and I’m so happy with it’s warmth, especially with this cold snap we are having. Thankyou for your service, it arrived very quickly and we live in the country. Amazing service. A+.

Really pleased with this amazing product that’s produced in NZ. Very cosy and warm and regulates your body temperature. Good service from BBB mailing it out to a rural address.

I am happy with the weight of the duvet, but a bit disappointed with the outer cover, it needs to be made with a much softer cotton.

Excellent quality and warmth. Considering we’ve had some of the coldest days of the year, I did wonder if the 400gsm would be enough. Answer is absolutely. 2nd challenge we had was choosing size as we had bought two long singles with the option of independent controls for elevating both the head and foot of the bed. Answer was California King is perfect - no more fighting over the duvet! Pair it with a California King cover and you’ve got the perfect duvet cover to cover both beds.

Absolutely love this duvet inner. Not thick or bulky like others. Has a nice weight to it which is so comfortable and cosy.

(Posted on 14 Jun 2025)

Duvet inner is nice and weighty compared to cotton stuffed inners. It keeps in the warmth and keeps the cold out really well.

We brought a blanket for our new bed, $500 od dollars. But when the sale went on i immediately got 3 for each of my children’s beds and their sleep has improved, the blankets have been staying on their beds and they are perfect heat wise they dont get too hot. Only downside is they all then went on further sale maybe 3 weeks later. Wish id have had a magic ball ✨️

Excellent product, a little heavier than the non-natural fibres. I got the 400gsm, and it very warm for winter. Very happy. And I haven’t noticed any smell that one reviewer complained about, nor any problem with fibres coming out of the duvet.

Just love it. Warm and cozy and not too heavy. Really nice to sleep under. I aired it for a few days to get rid of the sheep smell. 10/10!

Purchased 2. Product arrived quickly. Instructions say to air out before use. Even after daily airing for a couple of weeks product still has an offensive odour that will nor go away. Strong smell when you walk into bedroom and again when you go to bed. Would not purchase again and will dispose of product as i feel it is not healthy to use.

I absolutely love my woolrest duvet inner. It is filled with 100% NZ wool. I have also purchased one for my nearly two year old grand son who is about to go into his first bed. I ordered online one day, and they were delivered the next. Well done bbb! I would not hesitate to recommend this product to anyone.

I purchased the 400gm wool queen duvet last year, the best investment I ever made super warm & cosy. My bed is a double with wool in the top layer I also do not use an electric blanket. I do have a cotton blanket on top and all the covers stay in place. Super happy.

(Posted on 27 Aug 2022)

Very warm. But, put this duvet directly in an airtight cover because the hair comes out through duvet covers. All my black pants are covered in the wool.
